BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE:
Early diagnosis of malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is the commutation yell for of its treatment. The primary occupation is the precise diagnosis of mesothelioma together with its differentiation from metastatic lung adenocarcinoma. Mesothelioma exhibits complex immunohistochemical characteristics. The aim of this study was to study hybrid immunohistochemistry inwards the differential diagnosis of primary malignant pleural effusion from metastatic pulmonary cancers.
MATERIAL AND METHODS:
Twenty tissue samples inwards alkane series blocks from the pathology region of Imam Reza Hospital inwards Tabriz whose pathology reports cited mesothelioma or metastatic lung adenocarcinomas, were included inwards the studies. These tissues were deemed appropriate for IHC inwards price of tissue character together with quantity. They were studied together with evaluated for pathological markers.
In patients amongst adenocarcinoma CK7 inwards 100% of patients (13 patients), TTF1 inwards 61.5% of patients (8 patients) together with CEA inwards 53.8% of patients (7 patients) were positive, only HBME1 together with Calretinin were negative for all patients. In patients amongst mesothelioma, HBME1 together with Calretinin were positive inwards 100% of patients (7 patients) together with TTF1, CEA together with CK7 were negative.
The results of this study showed that CEA, CK7, TTF1, Calretinin together with HBME1 are suitable criteria for differentiating betwixt metastatic lung adenocarcinoma together with mesothelioma, together with tin dismiss differentiate the mesothelioma together with adenocarcinoma amongst high accuracy.
